GILPIN COUNTY PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION PROGRAM FOR SENIORS AND DISABLED VETERANS

A property-tax exemption is available to senior citizens, surviving spouses of senior citizens, and disabled veterans. For those who qualify, 50 percent of the first $200,000 in actual value of their primary residence is exempted from property taxation. HOLISTIC HOMESTEAD

The Holistic Homestead is a nonprofit serving the Peak to Peak region with a mission to improve health and wellness through education, outreach and advocacy. The Holistic Homestead coordinates free Used Durable Medical Equipment lending closets providing gently used walkers, wheelchairs, toilet risers, crutches, etc. We accept donations of gently used equipment that is clean and in good working order, and deliver needed medical equipment to your door. This service is grant funded in partnership with the Mountain Forum for Peace.

FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN

BOULDER COUNTY CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) provides financial assistance to eligible low-income families who need child care benefits for children from birth to age 12. If you are eligible, a portion of the total child care cost will be paid. You will be required to pay a portion of the childcare costs directly to the provider based on family size and income. COLORADO WORKS / TEMPORARY AID TO NEEDY FAMILIES

TANF is a federal program that provides cash assistance to needy families with dependent children. VetsGo provides medical transportation to veterans and their family members throughout Boulder and Broomfield Counties. Volunteers use their own vehicles to provide transportation going as far as the Aurora, Golden and Cheyenne VA facilities

Carry-Out-Caravan: Volunteers take orders, shop for, and deliver groceries to seniors who have transportation or mobility issues.

Fix-It: Volunteers perform minor-safety related - home repairs including grab bar installation and walker repairs.

Yardbusters: Volunteers perform a basic yard clean up either in the Spring, Summer, or Fall to help seniors comply with regulations and reduce falls.

GILPIN COUNTY CONNECT

Gilpin Connect is an advance-scheduled ride service for residents who need transportation to health care. Monday - Thursday, 8 am to 4 pm, $5 RT to adjacent counties, $10 RT to Denver. Free service for Veterans, minors must be accompanied by adult or guardian. Call: 303.582-9200

MEDICAID TRANSPORTATION INTELLIRIDE

IntelliRide manages non-emergency medical and non-medical transportation for Health First Colorado (Medicaid) members in the state of Colorado. We accept trip reservations and arrange member rides for covered services with qualified transportation providers. Members without access to transportation may be eligible to receive free rides to covered healthcare appointments and quality-of-life services.

 

Schedule your ride at least two business days before your appointment using one of the following options.

To schedule your ride, please have the following information:

  • Your name, Medicaid ID and pick up address

  • Your doctor’s or facility’s name, address, and telephone number

  • The date and time of your medical appointment

  • If a support person or escort will be traveling with you—due to capacity, drivers may deny additional passengers that are not the person going to the appointment or medically documented escorts

Access-a-Ride - Access-a-Ride is the federally required ADA paratransit service provided to those with certified disabilities who are traveling within ¾ mile of a fixed RTD route. VIA MOBILITY SERVICES

Via is a full-spectrum mobility manager offering paratransit, travel training, and mobility options information and referral services in Boulder County and beyond. Via also provides a wide range of community and group educational resources related to transportation for older adults, people with disabilities and others living with mobility limitations.

To accommodate the needs of the mountain community, Via offers mileage reimbursement to family members, friends or neighbors who provide a qualifying trip when Via cannot. To use this service, you must be registered with Via. To register, please contact Via’s Mobility Specialists at 303-444-3043.

GILPIN COUNTY SEASONAL HOME HEATING BILLS ASSISTANCE

LEAP can provide information on weatherization and prevention of utility shut-offs, for low-income Gilpin residents. To apply ue the Colorado.gov/Peak website or come into the Gilpin County Human Services office or call 303-582-5444. Human Services can assist you in filling out the application, make copie and email your application to LEAP.  The program runs from November 1 through April 30.

The Source is open to all people ages 12 to 24. The Source is the only shelter in Boulder County dedicated specifically to helping young people between the ages of 12-24. They provide access to food, clothing, showers, or laundry. They also help with medical care, legal services, counseling, finding long-term housing, and more.

  • Drop-In Services are open every day from 12:30pm to 5pm, for anyone ages 24 and under. Drop-in services include access to food, clothing, showers, laundry, and hygiene items. They also provide access to medical care, education, legal services, Internet, and more.

The Overnight Emergency Shelter is open every night from 5pm to 8am, for anyone ages 20 and under. They can host up to 14 guests per night in a comfortable, safe house. Staff can also work with you to arrange long-term housing and additional support.

GILPIN COUNTY CSU EXTENSION

CSU Extension's EAGLE is a free 4-H program at the Gilpin County Community Center that provides afterschool, Friday, and summer extracurricular opportunities for local youth. ENERGY RESOURCE CENTER

Energy Resource Center is a non-profit construction company assisting income-qualified families through energy efficiency improvements. Work completed includes insulation, HVAC, hot water heaters, lighting, appliances, air sealing and more. These efforts save money on energy bills, reduce demand on natural resources by cutting energy waste, assist with the affordable housing crisis, and create a safe environment in which Colorado residents can thrive.
